This is an optional reading, but this article made me think about our class discussions regarding copyright law:
ESPN Asked to Pay More than $15 Million Annually to License Ambient Stadium Music
Quick Summary: BMI is requiring ESPN to pay copyright royalties because their television broadcasts pick up the music heard in stadiums during sporting events and then that video can be circulated across the web, including social media. While this was at first thought to be covered under Fair Use (see ABC Network's 1978 Fair Use court victory); we need to remember that fair use is decided on a case-by-case basis. ESPN is taking BMI to court.
well considering the fair doctrine use it is not fair because one person should not pay to keep getting to use songs but then also any paton also you pay the inventor for ever and they keep getting money however a signer writes a song and you pay the aritist to use it so yes you should have to pay artists for songs.
